BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A student at Glen Oaks High School was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 10. The investigation began after deputies with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office were alerted to a social media post that reportedly showed him holding two guns while wearing a school uniform.

According to EBR Schools, the student was questioned by School Drug Task Force officers and a search of the student’s car where the weapons were found. The student is facing weapons charges and has been recommended for expulsion.

In part, a statement from EBR Schools said, “We want to assure you that our security team took swift, decisive measures to ensure the safety of our students and staff remain the highest priority in this district. Any perceived threats to safety will be investigated thoroughly, and we will remain proactive and vigilant along with our network of partners to ensure our campuses are always safe environments.”
