EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A man was killed and another person was taken to a hospital in critical condition after a Friday morning crash.
The crash reportedly happened around 7 a.m. in the 1700 block of Joor Road. According to Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran, the victim killed was identified as Charles Lepisto, 50, of Baton Rouge.
Lepisto was reportedly driving a black Honda Accord headed north on Joor Road when a white Chevrolet pickup truck crossed the center line and struck Lepisto head-on. Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.
Lepisto was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the truck was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to the police department. The identity of the pickup truck driver was not immediately released.
Police said Joor Road between Highway 64 and McCullough Road was reopened before 1:30 p.m.
This is an ongoing investigation.
