BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A former teacher of East Baton Rouge Parish accused of indecent behavior with juveniles has been arrested. Scotlandville Magnet High School counselor, Victoria Grant, is speechless after finding out about 28-year-old, Justin Broussard, who taught at Belaire High School.
“You were supposed to be there as adults to support and be that trusted adult, be that role model, and that leader and, so for you to do a thing like that… I just don’t have words for it,” said Grant.
In this case, we’re told the alleged victim left their social media logged in to another student’s phone. The student reportedly screenshotted the messages and gave them to officials.
“Students can have different apps on their phone. They may look like one thing, but in all actuality, it’s something else,” said Grant.
Broussard was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Tuesday, Oct. 31., and charged with indecent behavior with juveniles, computer-aided solicitation of a minor and obstruction of justice.
Grant says school counselors are a safe place for many students, but parent pop-ins are even more important.
“Just making sure that you are checking their phones, just making sure that you are really just, you know, doing your due diligence to make sure that you are aware and abreast of things that are going on,” said Grant.
