BATON ROUGE, La. (FOX 44)(NBC LOCAL 33) – The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging has announced some changes due to the threat of severe weather.

The EBRCOA is making changes to its Meals on Wheels program, according to a news release. Meals will still be delivered Wednesday, July 10th. Senior citizens, who normally receive their meals Thursday and Friday, will have their meals delivered on Wednesday and Thursday (July 10th and 11th). The Lotus Food Pantry will also be closed the rest of the week.

The Council is urging all seniors to prepare for this potentially severe weather by having an emergency kit, which should include water, can goods, medicine, batteries, flashlights and all of their important documents.

“The most important tip to keep in mind during extreme weather conditions is for family and friends to check on the elderly until the situation improves. Please be safe and stay tuned to local news for important weather related information,” said Chief Executive Officer, Tasha Clark-Amar.
