BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A special East Baton Rouge Metro Council committee met on Wednesday to discuss their investigation into the Capital Area Transit System.
During their first meeting, the members elected Councilwoman Carolyn Coleman as chair. Coleman also serves as the council’s representative on the CATS board.
The council voted to choose and hire their legal counsel but did not say who.
In recent months CATS leaders have faced multiple controversies, including failing to pay employee insurance bills and more turmoil. In June, the CATS board removed its CEO, Bill Deville, from his position.
Committee members include Carolyn Coleman, Jennifer Racca, Aaron Moak, Cleve Dunn Jr., LaMont Cole and Laurie Adams.
The committee will meet again in October. All members declined to interview.
