EBR Sheriff’s Office investigating the cause of an accident resulting in a car being submerged in a pond Tuesday

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accident at 655 Gardere that resulted in a car being submerged in a pond Tuesday evening.

St. George Fire responded to a report of a car in a pond at approximately 6:20 pm Tuesday afternoon.

The firefighters entered the water with personal flotation gear and found the driver, a male, still in the car.

A car window was broken and the driver was pulled to safety.

There were no other victims found in the car.

The driver was turned over to EMS for care and transport. According to the St. George Fire Department, the driver was thought to be ok.
