
BATON ROUGE, La., WVLA/WGMB – The East Baton Rouge Parish School System invites local families to attend Magnet Mania on Saturday, September 28 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The annual event will be held at the Raising Cane’s River Center and will feature student performances and demonstrations.
Magnet Mania will showcase all of the academic programs offered in EBRPSS that provide a broad spectrum of choices for parents, and offer students quality, cutting-edge, innovative, educational experiences. EBRPSS’ magnet programs are developed around unique learning styles, interpersonal skills, and special interests.
EBRPSS offers 28 tuition-free magnet programs that provide for a thematic focus, instructional continuity, and opportunities to apply flexible, hands-on learning experiences that inspire students to achieve their academic goals. The themed-based approach promotes exploration, project based learning and inquiry-based instruction in learning environments. This proven model allows students to focus on their own personal interests, ultimately fostering invaluable life skills.
Magnet program options are available to three-year-old students all the way through high school. A few of the specialized programs offered include: foreign language immersion, early college preparatory, visual arts, digital design, performing arts, creative sciences and arts, pre-engineering, law, medical and broadcast communications.
EBR Schools offer high school credit in select courses at the middle school level, expanded elective offerings, dual enrollment, and advanced placement classes.
