BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- With the ongoing COVID-19 surge, the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging will temporarily close due to COVID-19 precautions effective August 10 through August 17.

Seniors will be asked to not enter any of the senior facilities during the closure. If a senior is in need of a meal, call 225-923-8000 and request a Shelf-Stable meal. Seniors will be able to pick up the Shelf-Stable meal by drive-thru only at the Lotus Center located at 1701 Main Street between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The closure will allow time to thoroughly sanitize, disinfect, and clean all facilities and fleet in
accordance with CDC Guidelines. It is always a difficult decision to close senior centers, but it is
imperative to take a proactive stance in the safety of our seniors and to prevent the possibility of COVID
exposure and transmission.

During this closure, we encourage all of the seniors across the parish to continue to engage in our
virtual programming, this programming has provided us with an outlet to connect to seniors and, provide
some sense of normalcy as we navigate throughout these unforeseen times. Virtual programming is
accessible on our website www.ebrcoa.org, YouTube Channel (EBRCOA 1973) or Facebook (East
Baton Rouge Council on Aging).

For more information, call the Council on Aging at 225-923-8000.
