BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) and Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (R.A.D.E.) are searching for a man who escaped police custody on Monday following a drug trafficking bust.
EBRSO Narcotics and RADE began an investigation on possible drug trafficking being conducted by 45-year-old Demond Pervis and other conspirators. Agents were able to obtain search warrants for his apartment along with the multiple storage facilities he was using in Baton Rouge. On Monday, Jan. 18, Pervis and his wife drove from Baton Rouge to Rapides Parish with a shipment of narcotics when they were taken into custody by RADE.
At the same time, EBRSO Narcotics enacted all four warrants in Baton Rouge where $37,000 worth of methamphetamine, $12,650 worth of pressed fentanyl, $16,000 worth of marijuana, $7,000 worth of THC gummies, 25 ounces of THC wax, 197 vape cartridges and 3.3 grams of cocaine was seized.
EBRSO says that Pervis escaped Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office custody before he could be booked and is at large.
Authorities involved in this investigation include EBRSO K-9, DEA Baton Rouge, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and RADE.
Anyone with any information on the location of Pervis is asked to contact local law enforcement as soon as possible.
