The spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was arrested over the weekend in Alabama.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Troopers initiated a traffic stop on a white Lexus SUV traveling north on the Baldwin Beach Expressway in Baldwin County Alabama.
The driver, identified as Casey Rayborn Hicks, was believed to be under the influence of an impairing substance and was subsequently arrested for DUI.
Hicks was transported to the Baldwin County Jail and was later released on bond.
We reached out to Sheriff Sid Gautreaux a for comment on the matter. He says,
I was notified on Sunday that Casey had been issued citations for misdemeanor traffic violations including first-offense DUI while she was off-duty, in Alabama, in her personal vehicle. Our office has been in contact with officials in Alabama and with Casey related to the citations. As is standard for our office, she was placed on leave pending the outcome of our internal investigation. Those involved in law enforcement are rightfully held to the highest standards concerning the law.
