BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has arrested multiple suspects for a drug trafficking operation near a local elementary school on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

According to EBRSO, the Narcotics division performed an investigation after agents received anonymous complaints about Donald Lacour, 35, and Markeith Smith, 21, who were leaders of a drug trafficking organization. The alleged organization operated through an apartment on Rio Drive, next to Merrydale Elementary School to sell narcotics. After hours of surveillance, EBRSO Narcotics was granted search warrants for 11 locations in East Baton Rouge Parish and one location in Livingston Parish.

On Nov. 1, all search warrants were completed and the following seizures and arrests are the result.

  • 19 grams of Fentanyl
  • 120 pounds of Marijuana
  • 3.2 grams of Crack Cocaine
  • 15 pressed meth pills
  • 7 pints of Promethazine syrup
  • Blender with fentanyl residue
  • Press with fentanyl residue

  • 2 assault pistols
  • 1 bulletproof vest

Donald Lacour was charged with 3 counts of distribution of Schedule II Narcotics, 4 counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics/Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, Illegal Carrying of Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Violation of a Protection Order, Illegal Use of Body Armor, and Violation of CDS Law in Drug-Free zone.

Mitchell Johnson, 23, was charged with 4 counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics/Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Illegal Carrying of a Firearm.

Naajee Robinson, 22, was charged with 3 counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics/Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, and Resisting an Officer.

Sylvester Gray, 21, was charged with 3 counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics/Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, and Resisting an Officer.

A 17-year-old juvenile was charged with 3 counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics/Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, Resisting an Officer, and 2 counts of Juvenile Court Warrants.

A 15-year-old juvenile was charged with Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 3 counts of Juvenile Court Warrants.

A 17-year-old juvenile was charged with Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Markeith Smith was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Illegal Carrying of a Firearm.
