BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Zachary man was identified as the victim in a deadly Memorial Day afternoon crash.
Swill Charles, 66, of Zachary was killed in a single-vehicle crash after 5:30 p.m. on Plank Road, according to Louisiana State Police.
According to troopers, “Charles ran off the roadway to the right, struck an embankment, and entered a canal.”
Charles was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck, dying at the scene, officials said. LSP is awaiting toxicology results for Charles.
The investigation remains ongoing.
