BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The St. George Fire Department was called to the scene of a reported fire around on Thursday, January 13.

Multiple fire engines, a medic unit, and Entergy arrived at an office located in the 10500 block of Jefferson Hwy around 3 a.m.

The building is a small office space owned by Entergy.

According to the St. George Fire Department, “Upon arrival, Engine 623 and Aerial 628 found a broken utility pole leaning on a small building with a high voltage line down across the road.”

This prevented firefighters from doing anything due to unsafe conditions.

SGFD says, “The building began to smoke but was still attached to the energized down line, thus rendering it impossible for our crews to do anything but monitor the scene.”

While monitoring the scene, the office space became fully involved with fire.

Fire crews made sure that the fire was isolated to the Entergy office space.
