When you get off the interstate at Dalrymple Drive, you may notice a new building under construction, but it is not just a building. It is the home of the new Knock Knock Children’s Museum.

Peter Olson is the executive director. While Olson spoke to the Rotary Club Wednesday, he said this state-of-the-art  children’s museum will be the biggest in the state.

“We’re expecting to have 40 plus employees, and that is really to serve around 200,000 visitors annually. We may be the busiest children’s museum in Louisiana,” explained Olson.

The museum will feature more than a dozen “learning zones,” which are interactive and hand-on exhibits.

Olson said the museum could not have done this without community partners and the community, but there is still a lot of work to do.

“We still have at least a million dollars left to raise. We’re going to open, but we really need to raise that remaining capital campaign. It takes a lot to sustain a children’s museum, and this final push is critical,” concluded Olson.

The museum is projected to open this summer. A date has not been announced yet.
