BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)- The Tunnel to Towers Foundation spent this Christmas giving back to a Baton Rouge family.

The organization paid off the mortgage on the home of slain Baton Rouge Police Officer Lieutenant Glenn Hutto Jr. as part of its 2020 Season of Hope.

Lt. Hutto was shot and killed when he was ambushed by a murder suspect in April of 2020.

“This year has been a rough one for my family. So, it does my heart good, knowing I am mortgage-free thanks to the Season of Hope. I am truly thankful for the goodwill that’s being carried out through the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation,” said wife, Jennifer Hutto. “Tunnel to Towers came in and helped give us exactly what we needed when we needed it most—not only a safe, stable home but the security and comfort of being able to live near loved ones.”.

This is the first Christmas his family is spending without him.

“We know nothing can replace a husband and father, but I hope that knowing that his service and sacrifice to his community – hasn’t been forgotten and that they haven’t been forgotten will make this holiday season a little easier,” said Tunnel to Towers Chairman and CEO Frank Siller.

Hutto served 21 years with BRPD.

Tunnel to Towers 2020 Season of Hope is providing 36 mortgage-free homes in the 36-day span between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, including three in Baton Rouge.
