BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – LSU Tigers football team will not be traveling to Gainesville this weekend. The game scheduled for October 17th has been postponed.

2020 has already been charged with pass interference and now the Tigers are being forced a delay of game.

“I mean you have to go safety first but obviously I’m disappointed” said LSU Freshman, Eddie Fisher.

Several players on the Florida Gators tested positive for Covid-19. Now, they are down by contact, in quarantine.

They seem to be asymptomatic or only experiencing mild symptoms so that’s obviously a positive right now. hopefully they’ll continue to not have more severe symptoms” said Florida’s Athletic Director, Scott Stricklin.

Both schools agree, taking a timeout from the field was the best option.

“We’ve reached a point where we don’t think it’s appropriate that we try to play the game this weekend” said Stricklin.

In a statement, LSU Athletics say, their top priority is the health and well-being of student athletes and staff.

“I feel like they’re just trying to keep the players safe and like the people that try to go see the game safe” said Freshman LSU student, Demetrius Hollins.

Although Tiger fans won’t be huddled together watching the team play. They agree, the best play is to not play.

“You know college football is making the most of it with what they have right now at the end of the day you know the ultimate goal is to keep the players safe, keep the staff safe. make sure everyone can make it out of this covid-19 season better if not just as good as they came in” said LSU Freshman, Paul Richardson.
