LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – The father of a LSU Baseball player died in a tubing accident over the weekend.

The victim, 54-year-old Keith Hilliard, was the father of LSU Baseball pitcher Ma’Khail Hilliard.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) said they were dispatched to Hancock Lane on Saturday, June 19 about a man going underwater to retrieve a dropped item shortly after launching from Tiki Tubing. He did not resurface from the water, deputies said.

Hilliard’s body was later found and could not be revived, according to deputies.

LPSO said the cause of death is to be determined in an autopsy but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
