Father of Tremont Waters found dead in hotel room

BATON ROUGE, La. (NBC Local 33) (FOX 44) – The father of Tremont Waters, a standout point guard for LSU, was found dead Thursday in a motel in Connecticut.

Edward Waters Jr. was found unresponsive after police responded to a report of an injured or sick person at a Super 8 Hotel in New Haven around noon eastern time on Thursday.

Detectives are investigating the case as an untimely death, according to local media outlet New Haven Register.

Tremont was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 2nd round of the 2019 NBA Draft as the 51st pick overall. He signed a two-way contract with the team

Tremont was first-team All SEC in the 2018-19 season, helping lead the LSU Tigers to the regular season conference title. He was named the co-defensive player of the year alongside Kentucky’s Ashton Hagans.
