Final pass for flood debris pickup in Ascension begins July 14

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – The Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) announced on Wednesday, June 30 that the final pass for debris pickup begins on Wednesday, July 14.

OHSEP asks residents with flood debris to call the Citizens Service Center during business hours at 225-450-1200.

Officials remind residents to place debris in the road and street rights-of-way to be picked up. Pickup will only be for construction debris, including:

  • Building materials
  • Carpet
  • Drywall
  • Furniture
  • Lumber
  • Mattresses
  • Plumbing

Appliances such as freezer, refrigerators, washer and dryers will not be picked up during this final pass. These items must be disposed of by individuals at the Ascension Parish Recycling Center at 42077 Churchpoint Road in Gonzales. Recycling center hours are Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
