BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Throughout August, BRProud has helped local animal shelters relocate pets to forever homes. Here’s how families can meet and adopt a furry friend.
Various animal shelters including Cat Haven, Pointe Coupee Animal Shelter, K-9 Rouge Rescue, and more were at Companion Animal Alliance on Saturday, August 27.

Clear The Shelters is an annual nationwide pet adoption campaign created by NBCUniversal Local. Each year, NBCUniversal Local’s NBC-owned and affiliated stations partner with animal shelters and rescues in their communities to host the event.
This year, BRProud’s Clear the Shelters had eight animal rescue centers bring all animals that are up for adoption. Families came out to meet all the four-legged companions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
These three puppies will also be up for adoption.
The family-friendly event had food trucks and a bounce house. NBC Local 33 personalities such as Chief Meteorologist Ashley Ruiz, Meteorologist Jay Martin, and anchors Renae Skinner, Jacob Bradford, Reggi Marion, and Kourtney Williams were at the selfie station to take pictures.
