The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to a fire at a vacant tire shop on 5505 Evangeline St.

BRFD said firefighters arrived at the early morning blaze “to find fire going through the roof” of the building.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to the fire around 3:30 a.m. and it took seven total units around 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.

The Baton Rouge Police Department and EMS assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene of the fire. 

The cause of the vacant tire shop fire is unknown and the building is considered a total loss. 

According to BRFD, the investigation is ongoing and the building suffered $50,000 in damages.
