BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Fire Department says five were arrested Tuesday in connection to different arson investigations in the area.

The fire department says the Fugitive Task Force and the Baton Rouge Police Department helped with arrests.

According to BRFD, Emile Williams, 29, and Shantell McKinley, 40, were arrested in connection to an early morning fire on March 27 on Monet Drive. Williams faces a charge of aggravated arson and McKinley faces charges of accessory after the fact and aggravated arson.

Armeisha White, 24, was arrested by authorities in connection to an April vehicle fire on Pontotoc Street. White faces a charge of simple arson. BRFD previously announced the arrest of a 25-year-old woman in connection to this fire.

Jamarkus Whitlock, 21, and Ta’Will Thomas, 19, were arrested in connection to a Lobdell Boulevard apartment fire on Monday night. Both face charges of aggravated arson.

The fire department said, in 2021, the investigations division made 35 arrests in connection with 283 arson-related fires, totaling losses of $9,819,050.
