Five children among three families displaced after apartment fire on O’Neal Ln.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The St. George Fire Department was called to a fire at an apartment complex at 3441 O’Neal Ln.

The call came in around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw fire “coming through the roof,” according to the St. George Fire Department.

It took almost an hour to get the fire under control and even longer to put out some hot spots.

SGFD says, “the structure and contents were a total loss.”

There were no injuries as a result of this fire but three families are now without an apartment or the belongings that were inside them.

A total of 17 people were displaced including five children.

The Red Cross was called to help the displaced families.

The East Side Fire Department assisted the St. George Fire Department at the scene.

Investigators are still working to figure out what started the fire.
