The rain subsided in south Louisiana, but residents in Assumption Parish weren’t all the way out of the water.
There is always potential risks for flooding in the area, every time there are heavy downpours.
Jerry Landry, an Assumption Parish resident said “Its only going to get worse.”
Landry had been living in Assumption Parish all his life, and said he experienced his first flood over forty years ago.
“The first flood I’ve ever seen, when I was a kid. About 1973. That was one of the worst ones. So what we done was pick up our furniture, started hauling sandbags and just started getting prepared for it. It’s about all you can do, is pick up your good stuff and hope for the best,” said Landry.
It had only been a year since the devastating flood of 2016. When it rains, rising waters still haunt the residents in Assumption Parish.
Residents keep their eyes on the water, hoping it won’t destroy what they have worked so hard to rebuild.
