BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – St. George Fire Department responded to a grass fire in the woods behind the 6400 block of Siegen Lane on Monday.

Engines 613, 623, Aerial 618 and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire. St. George Fire Department says that grass fires only need one engine company but this grass fire was in the woods behind all of the businesses near the block which made the fire difficult to reach and extinguish.

“In addition to the vast amount of grass on fire, there was an exorbitant amount of rubbish among the trees and bushes, rendering this to be a more complex operation,” St. George Fire Department said.

Crews put of the flames and were able to use the entire incident as a learning operation for the freshly trained firefighters.
