BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — Funeral services has been announced for World War II veteran, Johnnie Jones, Sr. who died on April 23.

Jones was the first student to graduate from Southern’s law school after its accreditation. He was hired as the lawyer for the Baton Rouge Bus Boycott, organized by Rev. T.J. Jemison, who was the pastor of Mount Zion First Baptist Church.

Services for the veteran will be held at Mount Zion First Baptist Church, located at 356 T. J. Jemison Boulevard on May 2.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and the legacy service will begin at 11 a.m.
