BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Louisiana State Police says that all lanes are open after a gas leak shut down traffic on portions of Nicholson Drive Thursday. St. George Fire Department says the gas leak is contained.

Nicholson Drive was shut down from University Club Drive to Gardere Lane due to a ruptured gas line, St. George Fire Department said.

St. George Fire Department, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana State Police responded to the area.

River Road shut down from Lauberge Crossing Drive to the parish line. SGFD said that the railroad line stopped trains from passing in the area. Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted at the parish line by blocking traffic on Nicholson Drive. LSP diverted traffic from LA 30.

SGFD said it could be three types of leaks so multiple gas companies were on the way to the scene to see who could fix it.

This is a developing story.
