Getting the power back on is going to take patience

Local News

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — Many residents woke up this morning without power after Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana, but Entergy says it will take a lot of patience to get the electricity back on.

As cell service returned to the Baton Rouge area, many checked outage maps to see when they could expect their power to come back on, but many neighborhoods do not list an estimated restoration time, and Entergy says this is due to the volume of customers without power.

Entergy is asking customers to be patient as the storm team of more than 20,000 asses the damage and restores power. They also ask that you be cautious when cleaning up debris around your homes. Power lines may have come down during the storm, and the lines could be hidden below piles of debris or in water. So avoid touching debris near power lines or standing in any water.

To report an emergency, such as a downed power line, smoke or fire, or a gas leak, call 1-800-968-8243.
