BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A GoFundMe has been set up to help fund a funeral for a 28-year-old mother who was killed in a domestic-related incident last week.

The fundraiser’s description said Da’Ja Davis, 28, left behind five children ranging from six months old to 10 years old.

“We are asking for your prayers and support for the family and children,” the fundraiser page said. “We need your help with funeral expenses and asking for your help. Keep our family in your prayers as we go through this time of grief. Da’Ja was a beautiful person inside and out and would do anything for anyone if she could. She was a selfless person and we will truly miss her and her beautiful smile.”

Baton Rouge police said Davis was found shot to death in a vehicle on the afternoon of Thursday, Dec. 1 on Shelley Street. The suspect in her death fled from Louisiana with his six-month-old daughter before he was stopped by troopers on a West Virginia interstate. A shootout took place between the suspect and the troopers. Police said the suspect killed himself Friday morning.

As of Monday afternoon, $2,368 out of the $10,000 goal has been raised. To make a donation, click here.
