WALKER, La. (BRPROUD) – A GoFundMe for a 17-year-old student diagnosed with cancer in Walker is open for donations.
According to the GoFundMe page, Walker High student Mikayla Weaver has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Large B-Cell Lymphoma. A scan showed that the lymphoma was in her lung, lumbar spine, collar bone, leg and abdomen. Weaver is scheduled to begin chemotherapy.
The goal for the donation is $10,000 to help with medical bills, transportation and any other needs.
Organizers for Weaver’s campaign are also trying to raise money through fundraisers involving the community. As of Monday, Feb. 27, the amount donated is $930.
