ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A Gonzales couple has pled guilty to manslaughter in connection to a 2018 shooting that left one dead.

According to court documents, 27-year-old Kirkpatrick Morrison and 25-year-old Lauren Donaldson pled guilty to the charges moments before the start of the trial.

In the summer of 2018, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Black Bayou Road in Gonzales. Court documents stated that the shooting victim, 23-year-old Christopher Goudeau, was found in a bedroom closet with multiple gunshot wounds.

APSO detectives discovered that Donaldson agreed to have sexual intercourse with Goudeau for narcotics and money. She admitted to plans for her fiancé, Morrison, to rob Goudeau, according to court documents. At the home on Black Bayou Road, Morrison gets into a fight with Goudeau where Donaldson ultimately tells Morrison to shoot Goudeau.

Morrison and Donaldson have been sentenced to 35 years with credit for time served.
