GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – A 47-year-old Gonzales woman was killed after her camper caught on fire Wednesday.

Ascension Parish Fire District #7 responded to the 42000 block of Lillie Babin Road on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

The Louisiana Office of the State Fire Marshal says firefighters found an unidentified woman near the front door. After an investigation, state fire marshal deputies determined the fire started in a bedroom, but have been unable to rule out possible causes of the fire including potential electrical-related, smoking-related, and candle-related factors. Deputies were unable to confirm the presence of a working smoke alarm in the camper.

Official identification and cause of death are being investigated by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office, according to the fire marshal.
