Gov. Edwards holding 56th annual prayer breakfast program

The second day of the legislative session will begin Tuesday afternoon, but first Governor John Bel Edwards will host his annual prayer breakfast.

The Louisiana Governor’s Prayer Breakfast is an annual non-partisan event led by citizens of Louisiana who join together in a time of prayer for the leadership of our state, including the governor, the legislature and all state and local elected officials.

This event is held every year toward the start of the legislative session and it’s already been eventful with the session beginning as well as coronavirus case being confirmed in Jefferson Parish.

This is the 56th year of the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast and it is put on each year by the steering committee.

Dr. Barry Black, United States Senate Chaplain & retired Rear Admiral in the United States Navy will be our keynote speaker. LSU Head Football Coach, Ed Orgeron, will be making a special appearance as well.

The program will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center.
