BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair returns Thursday, Oct. 27! Here’s what you need to know before going.

Dates and times of the GBR State Fair

The GBR State Fair runs from Oct. 27 to Nov. 6. The fair opens at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The fair closes at 10 p.m. each night.

State fair moves fairground locations

Officials announced in May that the GBR State Fair will be in Gonzales this year. The fair chairman said the move was due to the original fair’s location going under construction for the next two years.

The fair started in 1965 when a trade show and carnival combined, according to GBR State Fair’s website. In 2021, the state fair saw a record-breaking number of visitors of over 100,000 people.
