Healthy Living: Holistic approach to overall wellness through F-45 Training

BATON ROUGE, LA (BRPROUD) – F-45 Training is a high intensity group exercise gym here in Baton Rouge, but it also focuses on stretching and breathing. Carly Laing explains the benefits in this week’s Healthy Living.

If you’ve taken an F-45 class, you know it’s high energy and intense, which can put a lot of stress on the body.

“It can take a toll on your body, especially if you are doing things improperly. Yoga kind of gives us that balance. It allows us to focus on our breathing, our flexibility and teaches us how to move while we breathe at the same time. And it applies directly to the F-45 training,” said Ranaudo.

In addition to regular training, F-45 also offers yoga once a week.

“Yoga, first is a great practice in itself. But, more importantly we think it’s important to balance out with our training here,” said Ranaudo.

Owner Anthony Ranaudo said to have a healthy lifestyle, you need balance.

“Your muscles immediately want to contract up and when you go sit in the car everything gets kind of tense. So we try to encourage some kind of active movement after,” said Ranaudo.

Ranaudo said the goal is to create a holistic approach to fitness and wellness.

“F-45 is just one part of the day right, and we workout to do other things in the day. So, we try to incorporate what we’re doing in the workout with our whole day. The importance of breathing while you’re moving, and the functionality of that and how that relates to your mental health, your physical health, all those different things play a role in the overall health of your body so we thought that was a good way to incorporate the holistic part of the training,” said Ranaudo.

In the midst of our fast-paced lives, Ranaudo said it’s important to find time to slow down.

“We even do shavasana at the end of our yoga, which is really just lay down on your mat and let all fours go out, and you’re really just listening to music and being present. Again, we don’t want to force any beliefs or any type of way on anybody, but meditation is a great way to rest and recover to get your body into that more parasympathetic, that rest and digest that we like to say,” said Ranaudo. “That way your muscles are more in a relaxed state and they can produce the oxygen and blood, all the different things they need to rest and repair so that way when you come to the gym the next day you can feel the best that you can.”
