Healthy Living: Local podcast helps you find balance while living a healthy lifestyle

BATON ROUGE, LA (BRPROUD) — Finding a healthy balance in a fast-paced world can be difficult, but a local podcast is helping you figure it all out. In this week’s Healthy Living Carly Laing introduces us to the minds behind Kettlebells and Tacos.

This may not sound like your typical fitness podcast, because it isn’t.

“I’m a fitness trainer and Kaylyn is a fitness trainer too and we both love tacos, so we have this podcast where we talk to people about fitness and at the end, we review tacos from the local Baton Rouge area,” said Santoro.

Kettlebells and Tacos are all about living a healthy life and enjoying it.

“I think that’s what life is all about, it’s about the experience. Trying new things. You don’t have to be eating brown rice, and chicken breast and broccoli every day to be healthy,” said Santoro.

F-45 Trainers and podcast co-hosts Dimetri Santoro and Kaylyn Petikas said it’s all about balance.

“Having balance is doing the things you enjoy doing and really taking care of your body in every aspect. Whether it’s going to the gym, or running, or meditating and doing yoga, eating the right things or eating what you want sometimes,” said Santoro.

If you’re feeling lost, this dynamic duo is here to help you find that balance.

“I think it’s all about the foundation that you have. I’ve tried a lot of different things and through trial and error you find out what a healthy lifestyle looks like for you,” said Petikas.

Santoro said tracking your food is a great place to start building a good foundation.

“So one of the best ways to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle is to occasionally track what you eat. If you don’t know what’s going into your body, you can’t get a proper gauge of what’s good for you,” said Santoro.

Once you have a solid foundation, Petikas said staying on track is much easier.

“Some people think they fall off the wagon if they have one bad night but it really is just getting back to your habits that you do every single day and staying consistent with that,” said Petikas.

Remember, while you work to find that healthy balance, be sure to make room for some fun.
