BATON ROUGE, LA (BRPROUD) – When it comes to fitness there are several ways to get moving, all you have to do is find an exercise you enjoy. In this week’s Healthy Living Carly Laing shows us a local, boutique fitness spot that offers a unique way to get in shape.
If you want to step up your fitness routine and step out of your comfort zone, pole fitness could be the exercise for you.
“Pole is bodyweight exercise. You’re just utilizing the pole as a tool. So, you will see [an] increase in strength, stamina, flexibility,” said Babs Spano.

“Our fitness classes start with any regular stretching, conditioning exercises just like you would do in any other type of boutique fitness. But then we teach you moves on the pole like spins, and eventually, we have you climb up the pole and do flips and tricks,” said Spano.
Spano said don’t let the pole intimidate you.
“For some reason, there’s some level of intimidation that people experience when they’re looking into this. Whether you come in and you have no background in movement, dance, anything we can help get you there,” said Spano.
Spano said anyone can participate.
“We have all ages. You have to be 18 to come but the oldest person that I’ve taught in the studio was 72 years old. So, anyone can do this,” said Spano.
