Healthy Louisiana enrollees can choose a new health plan beginning Friday

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Starting on Friday, June 15, if you are enrolled in Medicaid’s managed care program, also known as Healthy Louisiana, you will be able to choose a new health plan.

According to Louisiana Department of Health, the enrollment period for Healthy Louisiana runs from June 15 through July 31 and during that time you can choose something new or stay with your current plan.

The Louisiana Department of Health said, "there are five health plans that deliver physical and behavioral health care services to the nearly 1.5 million Healthy Louisiana enrollees."

This time period is the only time during the year when Healthy Louisiana enrollees can change plans without needing a qualifying reason.

If you do choose to change health plans, the changes will go into effect on September 1.

Healthy Louisiana enrollees should have received letters letting them know when the open enrollment period was and how to make changes.

There are many ways you can change your health plan and LDH provided a list below:

  • Use the Healthy Louisiana mobile app. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices.
  • Make changes by calling 1-855-229-6848.
  • Visit www.myplan.healthy.la.gov.
