BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Residents have the opportunity to trade in their guns for gas on Saturday, Aug 20.
Gas for Guns, hosted by TRUCE in a partnership with the mayor’s office, will be from 9 a.m. to noon at Capital Missionary Baptist Church. In order to be accepted, guns must be unloaded. Gas gift cards will be given out while they last.
.380 or smaller handguns can be traded in for a $50 gift card. Handguns larger than .380 can be traded in for a $100 gift card and any AR-style firearms can be traded in for a $300 gift card.
Residents should also remember the following when trading in firearms:
- Firearms must be in the trunk and organizers
- No one should get out of their vehicle
- The firearm must be functional and can’t be handled by anyone
- No information will be gathered
The East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office, the Baton Rouge Police Department, and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office are also hosting the event.
