BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A 24-year-old Baton Rouge man was arrested in connection to heroin distribution within the parish following a month-long investigation.

Louisiana State Police Narcotics Unit, LSP Troop A, and the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force conducted a search at a home on Broad Avenue where investigators seized $59,000, 86 grams of heroin, 512 grams of methamphetamine, 241 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of cocaine, and two firearms.

An arrest warrant for Matthew Barnes Jr. was issued after the search, according to State Police. LSP says investigators, with West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office’s help, found Barnes in Port Allen.

Barnes was booked into EBR Parish Prison on charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and transactions involving drug proceeds.

LSP said Raymond Barnes, 26, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact and resisting arrest by flight.
