Thursday, high school seniors were invited to a local ice cream shop in Denham Springs for a sweet surprise.
“I actually saw it online and thought what a great tribute to the seniors and class of 2020,” Terri Jackson said. “They’re missing out on so much so maybe this will bring them a little happiness and joy.”
Sweet rolls ice cream shop owner Terri Jackson she says she’s heartbroken for the class of 2020.
“Senior year is your funnest year,” Jackson said.”They don’t get to say goodbye to their teachers and they don’t get to say goodbye to some of their friends that they won’t ever see again,” Jackson said.
So she bought some markers and told them to have at it.
“It was definitely a kind gesture to do and it’s definitely something to bring the community together,” Bethani Taylor said.
Seniors from different schools wrote their names and added some flare to the windows of the shop. Maddie browning, a senior at Central high school, says this was the first time she’s smiled since the stay at home order started.
“I was really down about everything because I looked forward to experiencing what senior 2020 would be like,” Browning said. “I just feel like this is just a representation of like hey we’re thinking about y’all, we know what y’all are going through.”
It was a small gesture that left a big impact.
