Lamar Cooley, 69, was immediately identified as a suspect, according to police.

Officers said Cooley used some type of an accelerant to ignite a fire on the exterior of the residence.

Cooley appeared to be having some type of a feud with one of the people in the home and that appears to be the motive that led up to the fire, according to the report.

A 6-year-old and a 3-year-old were in the house at the time of the fire.

The damage to the home was minor and no one was injured, according to police.

Cooley was taken into custody and transported to the Houma Police Department without incident.

He was booked on one count of aggravated arson and five counts of attempted second-degree murder.
