How to qualify for Congressional/Special Secretary of State election

BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin is reminding the public of the deadline to qualify for the upcoming Congressional Primary/Special Secretary of State election.

If you'd like to vote in November, qualifications begin on Wednesday, July 18 and run through Friday, July 20.

All candidates must apply at their parish clerk of court.

All competitors running for U.S. Representatives, Secretary of State, Associate Justices of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals Judges and Public Service Commissioners must qualify at the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office, which is located at 8585 Archives Ave. in Baton Rouge.

Hours of operation for the secretary of state are 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily.

Check with your local clerk of court for specific parish hours.

Once qualified, candidates will appear on the secretary of state’s website in real-time on the home page at www.sos.la.gov

The Fall Congressional Primary/Special Secretary of State Election will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2018 and the Fall Congressional General Election will be held on Saturday, Dec.8.
