Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office warns public of recent phone scam

IBERIA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office (IPSO) warns the public of a recent phone scam that appears to be from the sheriff’s office.

IPSO said an individual notified them of the scam. The call appears to be coming from Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office and the caller claims to be a member of local law enforcement. In the call, the scammer says there is a warrant out for your arrest and asks for your name and banking information or gift cards.

The sheriff’s office advises the public not to give out your personal information and immediately hang up the phone then call their dispatch office at 337-369-3711.
