PLAQUEMINE, La. (BRPROUD) – A sergeant with the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office was fired on Thursday, Dec. 29 after an investigation that lasted 24 hours.

Sgt. Casey Copeland was dismissed after allegations surfaced about sexual harassment.

The report came from a woman who Copeland dealt with on the job, according to Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi. She did not work with IPSO and reportedly did not feel comfortable around him due to the alleged harassment.

Stassi said the investigation found that Copeland demonstrated a pattern of inappropriate behavior.

“Law enforcement is not above the law and I hold all my deputies to an even higher standard,” the sheriff said.

Copeland had been employed at IPSO for more than 10 years.

BRProud reached out to Copeland for comment and has not yet received a reply.
