BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board is expected to discuss Superintendent Dr. Sito Narcisse’s proposed ‘Smart Start’ plan Thursday during their board meeting.
The plan, which would start students 8 days earlier in the fall is being met with mixed reactions from parents and teachers.
Under the plan, teachers would start roughly two weeks earlier for professional development.
Narcisse says the plan is to make up for learning gaps brought on by the pandemic.
Dr. Narcisse joined BRPROUD’s Gerron Jordan and Kourtney Williams, Thursday, to discuss his plan in detail and his message for East Baton Rouge schools families.
The board is expected to discuss the plan at their meeting which starts at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15.
