GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – Do you live in Ascension Parish and have any household hazardous materials that you need to get rid of?

Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day in Ascension Parish is on Saturday, April 3.

Between now and then, parish residents can gather whatever hazardous materials they want to get rid of and head to the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in eight days.

Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day starts at 9 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m.

If you live in Ascension Parish, this event does not cost you anything other than your time.

These are some of the items that will be accepted on the 3rd:

  • Tires
  • Appliances
  • Electronics
  • Batteries
  • Paint

DO NOT BRING THESE ITEMS TO THE EVENT:

  • Explosive or radioactive materials
  • Paper
  • Aluminum
  • Plastic

According to the Ascension Parish Government, “the expo center is located at 9039 St. Landry Road, Gonzales, but people are asked to enter the facility from Ashland Road off LA Hwy 30.”

Residents are asked to bring an ID which shows that they live in Ascension Parish.
