Jefferson College is hosting its annual 5K Trail Run for the Animals event on Saturday, January 12.

The race, which is open to both walkers and runners, begins at 10 a.m.

According to organizers, this rugged race takes participants through Historic Jefferson College’s nature trails, the historic Assembly Hall property, and down Old North Street before returning to the campus.

It is a fund-raiser for the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society, and all leashed dogs are welcome to join the fun.

Runners and walkers who register before January 10 will receive a t-shirt, and there are awards for male/female, running/walking, and three age divisions.

Refreshments will be served after the race, and water for both humans and dogs will be provided along the race trail.  Volunteers to help with the race are always welcome!

There is a $25 fee, and checks should be made out to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society and mailed with the entry form to P.O. Box 549, Natchez, MS, 39121-0549.

Credit cards are accepted at the NACHS or over the phone at 601-442-4001.

Participants may also register as walk-ups the day of the race, but are not guaranteed a t-shirt
