BATON ROUGE, LA (BRPROUD) On June 19th the Jewel J. Newman Community Center is encouraging their current food pantry clients to register to vote and complete the Census 2020 surveys. This event will begin at 9am until 1pm.
“Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery and it is very important to have knowledge of our past. Exercising opportunities to mold the future is just as critical,” said Councilwoman Chauna Banks.
This event is in collaboration with the Baton Rouge Food Bank, U.S. Census Bureau, and the Jewel J. Newman Community Center. We will be re-certifying food pantry clients, assisting with online voter registration, completing census surveys, and distribution of facemasks.
Attendees are required to wear masks, but if unable, one will be provided.
For more information, please Councilwoman Banks at (225) 389-8331 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
