BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Journalists from the Baton Rouge area will honor several women of color in Louisiana.
The honorees include:
- Former WVLA TV news anchor Valentina Wilson who currently anchors for a TV station in North Carolina
- Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services Terri Porche Ricks
- Dr. Krystal Shelmire of Alternative Natural Health Solutions
- Serial entrepreneur and tech founder Sevetri Wilson
- Realtor, boutique owner and HGTV host Joy Russell
- Dr. Kia Callender-Price, whose nonprofit works to house the homeless
- Dr. Tanisha Toaston, a rehabilitation physician specializing in spinal cord injury
- Family Practice Physician Dr. Paulette Grey-Riveria, who graduated from Harvard University.
All of the women are featured in ‘The Shades of Success’ calendar, which is available for purchase. Some of the proceeds will go to anti-domestic violence initiatives.
The honorees will receive their awards at a banquet on Feb. 25 at the Clarion Inn and Conference Center in Gonzales. Click here for tickets, calendars and more information.
